Tigertail Beach on Marco Island begins as a calm lagoon and opens to a wide, white-sand beach along the Gulf that is accessible by crossing a shallow tidal inlet. Getting there is half the fun — it’s a long trek from the parking lot — but the journey rewards visitors with glimpses of sand dollars, fiddler crabs and birds before revealing a wide expanse of beach that boasts some of the best shelling and bird-watching in Southwest Florida.
